Who Is the Sales Office Manager?

To the average person, the position of a sales office manager seems a meagre one at best, but the truth is, without the sales office manager, there would be little need for many off the other position that surround the home building industry. It doesn’t matter where in the world you may live, without the support of the sales office and its staff of professionals, homebuyers would not be attracted to new homes and thus the industry would suffer.

How does that equate to the sales office manager? The sales office manager may perform any variety of duties including but not limited to the following:

•#Hiring sales and support staff for the sales office

•#Setting and maintaining office hours for the sales office

•#Creation and distribution of fliers and other advertising tools

•#Managing the model homes including furnishings, decorations, and other means that make them presentable to potential buyers

The sales office manager is responsible for all of the functions that surround the management of a sales office, and may even include speaking with potential buyers and finalizing a sale. When homes are first completed and ready for sale, the sales manager may be the only on-site contact for the potential buyer, so he may initially be the only staff member in the sales office. Thus, the sales office manager must know the function of the entire building project including sales prices, different models that are available, all of the details about the home project, and he will also need to direct buyers to a source of financing once a sales contract has been signed.

For those who are seeking a career as a sales office manager, it’s important to understand that this position is not a 9-5 job and may require your presence later in the evening and on weekends. It is also your responsibility to assure that the sales office and models are in immaculate shape and presentable to the public. The sales office manger also handles any emergencies that occur after hours at either the sales office or any of the model homes including fire, theft, vandalism, or any other problem that may occur in the hours after the office closes for the evening. A good sales office manager understands that emergencies happen and will not be offended by the prospect of having to leave dinner behind in order to tend to a job-related emergency. Only those strong enough to handle an occasional disruption of family life are well-suited to this position.
