Just as it its sister institute - The United States Military Academy, the U.S Naval Academy also has more or less the same requirements for admission into it's fold. To be able to garner admission into the Naval Academy, the candidate has to pass a slew of tests and be declared fit on all accounts - Intellectually, physically and morally. Moreover, the candidates should be aged 17-23 upon entrance, unmarried and have no dependents, have no legal obligations whatsoever and be of high moral character. The usual admission process includes an application, personalized tests, and standard protocol tests, personal and professional references. A physical test, called the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFP), is mandatory for all the candidates applying for the academy which is then followed by an exhaustive physical examination which also includes a test for vision as well a range of other complications and illnesses. Upon graduation the midshipmen, as they are called and addressed, as long as they are student officers at the academy, are conferred a Bachelor of Science degree, as stipulated by the congress in 1933. Numerous courses among engineering, sciences, mathematics, humanities and social science are available to be elected and studied upon for the midshipmen, notwithstanding a plethora of extra-curricular activities to choose and engage in. There is also a heavy emphasis on professional and leadership training at the academy. The professional courses are accentuated and brought to light by adding on field projects with The Navy and the Marine Corps. Some of the subjects that can be studied need special mention here. Satellite testing and aeronautical engineering are popular subjects chosen by midshipmen. It's worth mentioning here that the aerospace laboratory systems at the U.S Naval Academy are regarded as one of the best in the world. There is also a Small Satellite Program, which is actively pursued and done as projects by the midshipmen. These projects are then tested and applied at the same world-renowned aero space labs. Midshipmen tumbling out of the naval academy are apparently as savvy as they come and that is one of the primary reasons why it is often called as The Shipwreck Tech". The young and budding Naval ensigns and Marines come packed with highest academic and technical credentials apart from being smart, disciplined and training well in combat about to get into the big league for putting in their active service with the U.S Navy and serving the country to the best of their abilities.
