Robert Tisserand, internationally known as an aromatherapy pioneer, created Tisserand Aromatherapy. His health care practice launched in 1969, while his discovery of aromatherapy took place in 1974. Tisserand Aromatherapy was the first firm to market the essential oils and aromatic products for the aromatherapy process. Tisserand wrote the first book on aromatherapy published in English. This was in 1977. The Art of Aromatherapy, Tisserand's much lauded text, was subsequently translated into a total of nine additional languages. All it takes are three to five drops of the essential oil in a bowl of water that is very hot but not to the point of boiling. Inhalation of this combination through a vaporizer for five to ten minutes is ideal. Tisserand aromatherapy oils are not automatically recommended in some circumstances. If someone has a skin condition, asthma, epilepsy, is pregnant or is taking prescription medication, she or he cold clear the Tisserand aromatherapy treatment with a physician.
