Today the most energy efficient air conditioners come with a SEER rating of 13. Even if you go for something lesser than that, say for a SEER 11 or SEER 12 you still stand to save a lot on your electricity bills. The Capacity This is another crucial element to your air conditioner buying decision. Know the dimensions, i.e. the length and breadth of the room you are going to install the unit in. multiply the floor area with 25 and the figure you get is close to the number of British Thermal Units your air conditioner needs to have. You can also factor in the windows by adding an extra 1000 BTU for every window.
