No doubt that we have all been affected at some time in our lives by a snorer in some form or fashion. But what actually causes this irritation? Noisy breathing through the nose and mouth while sleeping is what causes snoring. It is the result of a blocked air passage, which inhibits what would otherwise be easy and normal breathing. The snore sounds that we associate with this condition are the result of the vibration or flapping of the tissues lining the air passages. And since this condition while someone is sleeping, most snorers have no clue that they snore even though their sleep is affected by it as well. Snoring occurs when air does not flow smoothly through the air passages, or as mentioned earlier, when the soft tissues or muscles in air passages vibrate. Age can become a prevalent factor as it is found that the older a person gets, the weaker their throat muscles become. This weakening of the throat muscles will cause surrounding tissues to sag making them vulnerable to vibration. In some cases, nasal blockages caused by allergies or a deviated septum when the partition between the noses is crooked has been known to restrict airflow through the nose. This will force more breathing through the mouth where the flabby tissues are located. Many snoring solutions are available and being practiced by thousands of people. It is a good idea to try several of these and simply pick one that best suits you. Many snore solutions require the changing of a personal lifestyle. This change in lifestyle means a change in eating habits and doing some exercise to keep fit and lose that excess weight. Some other tips include avoiding heavy foods right before bedtime is highly recommended. Changing your sleeping posture by sleeping on your sides rather than on your back is another helpful idea in alleviating snoring. There are several products available in the marketplace that can aid in sleeping properly. Probably the most dreaded solutions to snoring is surgery. Palatopharyngoplasty is performed to enlarge the throat. This procedure increases the airflow in the throat and reduces the vibratory tissue in the throat. Obviously, there are many potential solutions for snoring. It is just a matter of preference and effectiveness. The natural more simplistic ones should attempted first followed by those more costly and complex. The good news is that no one has to suffer the negative effects from snoring.
