Some Basic Tips On How To Match Up A Good Cigar With A Quality Alcoholic Beverage

Are you one of those who believe that cigars are only for the wealthy elite? Many people have an image of some stuffed shirt chubby guy sitting back in an easy chair with a stogie in one hand a glass of fine Scotch or brandy in the other. Of course, I can remember the character of Archie Bunker who was seldom seen without a cigar in his mouth. If you are curious or interested in trying them for yourself check out the information below.

Almost invariably you see cigars matched together with alcoholic beverages such as Scotch, brandy, or rum. For many people the proper combination is to match up a good cigar with a sweet tasting alcoholic drink. The more experienced cigar aficionados have known this and have taken pleasure in the experience. One of the experiences that has been vastly underrated is that of smoking cigars and drinking fine quality beer with them. This is changing now with the trend moving in the direction of matching up fine cigars with high quality varieties of beer. As a connoisseur of fine beers myself, I can't think of a better way to experience a fine cigar than with a good, cold beer.

If you share my love for good beer and want to experience the match up of a quality stogie with a fine lager then read on. It isn't an easy task, but it is very rewarding. If you don't have a lot of experience with beers or cigars you may need a little assistance in order to be successful in a good match up. If you have a lot of experience in experimenting with various flavors or beers and cigars then you will no doubt have no problem making the appropriate choices.

One of the great difficulties with matching up these two products is that most cigars tend to have such powerful flavors and therefore make it tough to find a beer that will be able to equal the taste of the stogie. A good starting point for most cigars is to choose a good barley based beverage or a single malt scotch. If you like wine and you have a relatively spicy cigar you may want to consider a barley wine which has a fruity flavor that will go nicely with the flavor of the cigar. Combining a spicy stogie with a beer that has a fruity flavor or a wine can enhance the experience by bringing out the best in both products.

There is really no cut and dry right way to do this so have fun and experiment. Look around and choose a cigar that you like and then experiment with different flavors of beer until you find the one that best suits the stogie you have chosen.
