For most of us, having to do the traditional things that we think are required to build a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business are a struggle. Because MLM business owners are mostly, in effect, salespeople, they exhibit the procedures and tactics that everyday sales professionals have used for decades. Unfortunately, not all people have the emotional and psychological temperament for such methods, and the vast majority of individuals are downright uncomfortable about having to sell a product from person to person. It is easy to see why people dislike the activities required to successfully build their MLM business using "old school" traditional techniques. First, there is a social bias against selling from person to person, almost as if you are needy. Oftentimes, the network marketer is forced to resort to cold-calling, which can be a bad experience for both the marketer and the person they are calling on. In general, most network marketers are thought to be an annoyance and a complete waste of time. And nothing is worse than trying to convince your friends and family that your business is perfect for them! Second, many salespeople over the years have used heavy-handed pressure methods to make their sales quotas. I'm sure we have all dealt with the pushy car salesperson, especially if you visited them the last day of the month! This unfortunately also applies to network marketers, some of whom have been incredibly unscrupulous in their dealings. The worst part of it is that when one network marketer does even just one deed of dishonesty or fraud, the reputation of everyone else in the profession suffers as a result. Third, most people simply do not have the energy to do the legwork necessary to make their network marketing venture a success. Many people who enter network marketing work in full-time jobs which use up much of their daily allotment of time and energy. After a commute, a nine-hour workday, and homework with the kids, they simply are not in any position to make some calls or pay some potential clients a visit. Undoubtedly there are some people who can do this, but they are the exception rather than the rule. Building your MLM business using the internet eliminates most of the problems associated with traditional MLM business building tactics. By setting up a site and letting technology take its share of the work, you will drastically reduce the amount of time and energy that it takes for you to make money with your business. However, this point must be made clear: You will still have to work to make money at the end of the day. What you are doing is reducing the amount of work you have to do, and minimizing the activities you dislike. The bottom line is that it is a business, and no business can possibly thrive on perpetual autopilot. You will need to understand the numbers game as it applies to the internet. The key here is to get as many people as possible to visit your site, and get them to like what they see. Remember: It's all about the traffic. This is where a skilled internet marketer will have the advantage over Joe Rookie! Fortunately for Joe though, more and more programs are popping up on the internet called "downline builders". Put simply, they allow novice MLM business owners to tap into their system that provides them with the websites and training necessary to effectively market their MLM business opportunity on the internet. Many people are having great success growing their businesses using this non-traditional approach. Out with the old, and in with the new!
