Sump pumps have also been introduced. This system keeps the water from coming into your home by pumping them out before it even reaches the basement floor. You also have to constantly check for cracks in the walls of the foundation and prevent them to keep the water out of your basement. Concrete sealers are now introduced in the markets, to help the concrete keep out water. Try putting the waterproofing coat on the foundation first before doing the actual landscaping, because if you don't, you will be forced to dig about six feet into the ground next to the foundation just to apply it. Waterproofing materials need to be applied onto the foundation itself for them to work.

These preventive techniques should at least save you from bigger difficulties once the rain sets in. If you have done all the steps to ensure a flood-free basement, you can truly enjoy the rain with your warm cup of soup and your sweetheart beside you.
