Your body needs to be hydrated from the outside and the inside as well. Hydration is important to prevent eczema flare-ups. In order to ensure that your body has enough fluids everyday it is very important to take good of your skin. Hydration simply means to supply water or to restore or maintain the fluid balance. In order to prevent eczema as far away as possible it is highly critical to keep your skin well hydrated at all times. Well hydrated skin will hold in naturally occurring moisture and lubrication far better than dry skin can. Hydration also aids the faster healing of skin. A lot of bath and beauty products remove the natural oils from your skin. If you are prone to eczema and dry skin, it is recommended that you avoid these products under all circumstances. You can also prevent eczema by avoiding bubble baths, scented body washes, soaps, cleansers, and scented lotions. Always remember that the drier and flakier your skin is, the more moisturization your skin needs. You should always moisturize immediately after a bath or shower. Opt for a quick bath instead of a long one and instead of bubble bath use emollient bath oil under running water. Emollients soothe and hydrate the skin while you enjoy your bath. After the bath towel dry yourself a little and apply the moisturizer while your body is still damp and then pat yourself dry. Use an emollient or some sort of good moisturizing agent like a cream or lotion on your skin at least twice a day, in the morning and at night. If necessary you can apply the moisturizer more than twice. As compared to ointments, cream based moisturizers contain more water. In general, to prevent eczema, ointments have to applied more times per day then cream based moisturizers. Internal hydration is mostly dependent on your water intake. Since your body is 60-70% water and every day you lose water naturally from breathing, sweating, waste, and also from exercise and heat and humidity, it is very important to drink at least 8 glasses of water. Water not only helps with your digestion but it also helps to detoxify your liver and kidneys. Proper hydration aids the absorption of nutrients and also results in efficient waste management inside the body. Thirst indicates dehydration or lack of adequate water in the body. You should not drink only when you are thirsty, drink water at every chance you get. Take a glass of water every half-an-hour. Drink even if you are not thirsty because water is known as Mother Nature's Health Cocktail. Monitor your water intake to prevent eczema!
