Ovulation is the one moment each and every month that many women around the world hold their breaths, hope, chant, and pray for. This is the moment upon which many of these women base their hopes and dreams for the future. This is the moment when they hope to create new life within themselves so that they can feel and watch it blossom and grow from within. Ovulation for just as many women proves to be elusive month after month after month. Ovulation is difficult to predict as it is somewhat capricious and never holds to any set time schedule during the monthly cycle. For a more specific term ovulation is the actual release of one lone mature egg from the ovarian follicle. This egg typically has 12 to 24 hours in which it can become fertilized or before it begins to break down. Not only does the egg have to be fertilized in order to create a pregnancy it also have to properly implant itself. It is important to understand that there are many things that can affect a body's ability to ovulate properly. Among these culprits are: stress, illness, and interruptions to your normal schedule (early mornings, late nights, new jobs, etc). There are many kits you can purchase that will assist you in tracking not only your monthly cycle but also your ovulation period each month as well. There are also many kits that you can find at little or no cost online. The best course of action if you are trying to conceive is to go to your doctor before you begin and see what he or she recommends you do in order to achieve the most expeditious results possible (unless of course you're just tossing around the idea and still interested in buying a little more time). If you are having difficulties ovulating each month or not ovulating at all, you really should see your doctor first of all in order to eliminate any potential health problems and secondly because he or she may be able to offer some rather simply remedies or treatments for this problem. Some treatments are as simple as stress relieving activities or physical fitness and some require more invasive treatments such as hormone treatments. Your doctor can help you decide which course of action is appropriate to your situation. It is very important that you remember that while there are many similarities from one body to the next, we are all very different inside and out. What works for your friend may not be a great idea for you. Not all women ovulate on the 14th day of their cycles each and every month and not all women have regular cycles in which to determine at exactly what point in their cycles they actually ovulate. Some may even ovulate while on their cycles. Women often try many things in order to conceive, I recommend talking to your doctor openly and candidly before you take any actions one way or another. If you feel you are having difficulty ovulating or are not ovulating at all, this may be a symptom of other health concerns and you should seek your doctor's advice and guidance.
