How To Spot A Bargain When Choosing New Tires

Your tires are so important and there's so much riding on them. It holds true for whatever vehicle you may be driving or riding, be it a bicycle, an electric scooter, a hot sports coupe or a daily use hatchback. A smooth ride does a lot for the car and the driver so if you get new tires for your jalopy it'll help a lot and if you get cheap tires for your fancy car then your car will not be happy with you. However, it's not difficult to get tires at discounted rates which will suit your car and pocket. Technological advances in this field have ensured this fact.

You checked your car and decided it needs a change of tires, now comes the choice. The first and the best option would be to go for the same size and type that your car originally came fitted with. Check with your service station whether you need a change in wheel and tires, just wheel or just tires. There are options like you may want to change the wheel and keep the tires for some more time or wait till new tires are needed then go in for wheels with a larger diameter than what you have.

Your driving requirements need to be kept in mind while changing your tires. Ideally the dealer you go to should help you make an informed choice about the type and size without blowing a hole in your budget to up his commission. Get your facts in place like driving conditions and special needs if any.

There remain some pertinent facts that must be considered while buying tires. First is the tread life of the tire which will give you an idea of how long your tires will last you. Badly worn treads means lots of problems in driving. Manufacturers generally calculate the life of tires through field testing under government guidelines. The higher the grade of the tread life the better and longer the tires will last. Four season tires are an excellent option for wet climatic conditions. For snow, you would do well to invest in a set of snow tires as well and change as and when required.

The next point to keep in mind is the speed rating which is quite underestimated as a factor involved in choosing discounted tires by most people. This rating shows the safest top speed that the tires can handle and are normally marked with the letters Q for the minimum and V for the optimum speed. Sports car owners who like to speed could try out the ultra performing tire but how often you use it is anybody's guess. 75 mph is the speed limit for USA but in Europe, drivers who like speed can really speed things up and in North America there is almost no need for tires to go over the 200 mph mark.

Tire profile like the high profile group which would give you a safe and smooth ride while low profile tires, though stylish in looks, may not keep up with bad road conditions and may end up giving you more problems.
