Fluctuating metabolism is not fine for keeping fit and in shape. I have been watching this lady walk briskly for several kilometers over a period of two hours every morning; having seen her for so long and number of times one day I thought of striking up conversation with her. After an introduction I came to the point –so how many pounds have you lost over all this while that you have been at regular walks. Not many, she was prompt. I may have lost about seven kgs over a year but then I get it back during the winter holydays when I am unable to keep off my favourite cakes and pastries; and how can I forget those delicious cookies I get made fresh at the confectionary, she was quite forthcoming about her weaknesses. She told me she was keeping fit and her regular walking was doing much more than reducing her weight. Walking was helping keep up with a good energy level which was missing when she was a lazy bum several years back.
