Christmas decorations that adorn the front of your home send out an important message. It tells your visitors they are welcome into a home that has the Christmas spirit. Not only does it convey that message to your visitors but also to the passers by. When you gift wrap your front door it makes your whole house look like a special gift. To do that you will need a lot of wrapping paper and ribbon. Start from the top of the door and run the paper to the bottom. Use the wide transparent package tape on the top and the sides. Make sure the complete door is covered. Tape the paper under the door. The door should look like one large piece of wrapping paper. It really does not cost much either. Tape the ribbon to the door. Use the model of the cross. Tape a large bow in the center. Always remember security first. Gingerly cut a big enough hole around the peephole. Use poster board and a marker to wish all a Merry Christmas. Make the poster board look like a gift tag hanging from the bow. Use stiff cardboard and cut out a snowman shape. Paint it white and decorate the snowman with a hat tipped to the side and a scarf. Depending on the amount of front yard space that you have, you could put Santa and some reindeer near the front of the house. Then scatter brightly colored wrapped gifts over the yard. Off course the gifts will be empty wrapped boxes. Make sure that lights adorn and guide the way to your front door. Get a small computer connection that will make the lights dance in peculiar ways. Do not forget garland and candycane. They must go somewhere. Place extra lighting around steps to make them safer. By now your front yard looks very festive. However, a word must now be said about safety. No one want any injuries or accidents over the christmas holidays. Only use lights that specify they are for outdoor use. This could be especially dangerous as it generally rains and snows at this time of year. Your christmas lights have been away for a year. Check for loose or exposed wires. Sockets that may heat up too fast. Watch those extension cords. We all tend to use the wrong guage of extension cord. Remember to turn the lights off when you retire for the night. If you live in an apartment complex you may want to ask the apartment manager for permission to place christmas decorations on the outside. You should be able to gift wrap your apartment door. It still sends a positive message to your apartment neighbours. Do you have any trees in your front yard? Decorate them with ornaments and lights. If children are present it is imperative that they are involved with the decorating. After all, christmas has a lot to do with children when we consider the Christ Child. Christmas time is about sharing, giving, and love. As parents, lets do our level best to nurture an atmosphere of the christmas spirit all year round.
