Speaking as someone who has an abundance of books in her life, I can tell you I am a tad bit confused about the role that bookcases play in my life. With all the books that I own and have yet to read, I can never really decide whether to give them a permanent home or keep them stashed away in a box. Part of this issue is a result of the lack of permanency within my own life. I find a new place, hoping that this is it; finally I am here to stay. However, all of the sudden a need roommate pops up out of nowhere and after driving me insane, I find myself moving out again along with me collection of books, of course!. When I do move into a new place, they are as usual, typically stashed away somewhere, lacking a permanent place of their own. Finally, after so many moves and a great deal of thought, I have finally decided to buy my books a home. However, even though my books are excitedly awaiting the permanency of bookcases, I am left with the question how to choose the exact style, color, and the kind that I want. There are so many choices out there that I tend to get more and more confused. There are so many different styles, which should I choose? Should I opt for a contemporary or modern look? Perhaps the Mediterranean look will suit me better. No, maybe the French, eclectic, shabby chic, traditional, baroque, or even Goth look will be the ticket. Can you understand my dilemma here? Which bookcases should I be choosing to match which style I am looking for? Mission style bookcases seem to be perfect for me, I think. There has to be a reason for this popularity. I appreciate the simplicity and steadiness offered and these bookcases are the most popular of all types available. Bookcases were developed within the 17th century. They first arrived within the confines of libraries and universities, storing collection after collection of literature. By the end of the 17th century, this amazing piece of furniture was commonplace in nearly every household. The time period, dictated the overall design of the bookcase from the Georgian breakfront to the dwarf or upper stage styles. There is no shortage of styles when it comes to bookcases; however, it is important that the style chosen fit your needs, your books, and your overall decorative scheme. As for me, I think I will go with a sleek, trusting, and straight angle design, just in case I should ever have to move again. Summary: Bookcases come in a range of styles and colors. They enhance the beauty of your house. They also protect your precious collection of books from any sort of damage.
