A good affiliate marketing program will also provide you with training in techniques to promote their product on your website. Then you would have to worry only about getting traffic to your website, which you can do through up to date relevant content or a blog.

On the flip side however if you don't choose the right affiliate marketing partner you may get duped. The partner may fold up after you have provided traffic to them and not pay you. You will also lose some revenue through broken links or emails so be prepared for this eventuality. In cases where you are selling your own product or service through an affiliate you will land up making less money than you would if you had sold through your own website. You will also have to wait for your money from affiliate and online marketing. Some affiliates may take up to three months to pay you.
