eBay is no longer the unfamiliar ground that it once was. Today, it is the self proclaimed "world's largest marketplace." For some, it is a hobby on which to make a few extra bucks at the end of the month. Others use eBay selling as a way to sell antiques and niche items with the hope of finding gems to net them large amounts of cash. Still, there are others who dropship on eBay to create full time income streams. For whatever reasons you use eBay, here eight ebay selling tips to boost your dropship profits: 1.) Be informative, but not annoying in your descriptions. Some people seem to think that in order to be catchy, you have to use the largest text, the brightest colors, and the flashiest images. This is not the case. When buying on eBay, most people don't want to be "sold." This is especially true of those looking for a great deal. Give the benefits and features of your product, but don't overkill it. 2.) List your items with no reserve price. This is tough for some people - especially those just starting out. However, the fact of the matter is that items with no reserve will yield a higher price than one with a reserve price about 90% of the time. The logic behind it is simple: an item with no reserve will draw more attention and attract more bids. People automatically assume that they will get a better deal. However, with the number of people that bid, the price goes up. Imagine yourself as the seller; on which item would you rather bid? In addition, the number of bids can also be attractive to buyers. When people see that an item is being bid on more frequently, they assume quality and get caught up in the auction frenzy. 3.) Don't list your items late at night. This should be a no brainer; you don't want your auction to end when nobody's online, because your item shows up higher the older it is, and most of the bids come in the last few hours. 4.) Focus on niches. Too many people try to compete in saturated markets where there is little profit to be made. iPods are perhaps the most oversaturated items on eBay; newbies to eBay selling mistake that, because they are the hot item, iPods must be profitable for dropshippers. However, the fact that something is popular doesn't make it the best item to dropship. The most profitable items are targeted to specific group of people and are difficult to find elsewhere. If you are dedicated to selling only iPods, you will find that there is little margin between your wholesale supplier and the final selling price on eBay. On the other hand, if you can find items from your suppliers that are tailored to a target audience, you can charge almost any price depending on the competition. 5.) Achieve Powerseller status. While this takes time, it can as much as double your dropship profits, because people feel better buying from those who have made many transactions. In fact, most people are willing to pay more money to a Powerseller than to someone with an extremely low feedback score. 6.) It is better to add a few extra dollars to shipping than to the cost of the product. Few buyers truly understand how the shipping process works from your end. For this reason, buyers pay much more attention to the item price. Also, when a buyer sorts according to price, the shipping cost is not included, and you will appear higher in the rankings. Therefore, if you need to add a few dollars in order to cover additional charges, or to ensure that you break a profit, add them onto the shipping, but don't overdo it. 7.) If possible, show pictures of the product other than the stock photo. It is okay to use the photo provided by your supplier, but it is also beneficial to show additional pictures of the product in its place of use. 8.) Accept PayPal for absolutely everything. If this is something that you have neglected to do, it can greatly increase your profits. Using PayPal is extremely easy, and there are plenty of buyers who will only use PayPal; some have PayPal accounts that are funded, and they therefore have payment ready. Others prefer PayPal because it is a trusted source. If you are currently not accepting this form of payment, switching over can create an immediate increase in your profits.
